2016 - David Bowie released Blackstar album on his 69th birthday.

2015 - The owner of the original Cavern Club in Liverpool, Ray McFall, passed away at the age of 88.

2010 - Jimmy Page helped launch a new set of stamps in the UK which featured classic album covers from the last 40 years, including Led Zeppelin IV. 

2002 - The Black Crowes broke up and released a statement that said "For the time being, Chris Robinson is pursuing a solo career. Steve Gorman has left the band for personal reasons." 

1991 - Steve Clark of Def Leppard dies of an accidental drug overdose at age 30.

1991 - 16-year-old student, Jeremy Delle, shot himself in his English class. When Eddie Vedder reads about it, he writes the song "Jeremy" about Delle and other young people who have committed suicide in schools.

1979 - Rush was named the Canada's official "Ambassadors of Music" by the Canadian government. 

1979 - Cher's divorce from Greg Allman becomes final. The two were married in 1975 and had one child together, a son named Elijah Blue Allman. 

1975 - Three Led Zeppelin concerts and Madison Square Garden sold out in a record four hours. 

1974 - Casablanca Records signed KISS to a recording contract soon after catching their act in New York.

1966 - The Beatles started a six week run at #1 on the US album chart with "Rubber Soul", the group's seventh US chart topper.
